Events at A Book For All Seasons

We love to support our local authors and our events allow us to give something back to the community as well. We offer book signings, talks, readings, writing workshops, and meals with an author—often accompanied with a slide show.

It would be a treat to meet any of these authors, but both of them together -- WOW!

The Russian Dreambook of Color and FlightGina Ochsner

The Russian Dreambook of Color and Flight

The prize-winning fiction of Gina Ochsner is bewitching, deft, and remarkable. Her debut novel will take you straight to the heart of vivid characters, and absurd, yet heart-breakingly real, dilemmas. The strong women and compelling men in The Russian Dreambook of Color and Flight are a people who rely on dreams to defy dereliction and decay.

The Guardian calls Russian Dreambook "a heartbreaking comic masterpiece that already has a place in the literature of protest."

Walking with WolfKay Chornook

Walking with Wolf: Reflections on a life spent protecting the Costa Rican wilderness

Wolf Guindon was among a small group of American Quakers who moved to Costa Rica in 1950 seeking freedom for their anti-war convictions. Dairy farmers in the lush cloud forest, they were instrumental in establishing the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. In his sixty years walking the Costa Rican rain forest, Wolf fell in love with the land and has worked relentlessly to protect this vast, rich, diverse region for generations to come. Walking With Wolf is the product of a long a close collaboration between Wolf and author Carol Chornook, sister of Leavenworth local Maggie Shanklin.

Chornook's descriptions are so vivid that readers will almost feel the cloud mist on their face and the mud sucking at their boots." — Rachel Crandell, author of The Forever Forest

"The life of Wolf Guindon is in itself a message and a path." — Robert Bateman, naturalist and wildlife artist

"Great dreams, great deeds, great stories. I couldn't put this book down." — Dennis Lee, Poet Laureate of Toronto

"Excellent and entertaining ... should be required reading for ... the possibilities for changing our world." — Caroline Castillo Crimm, Professor of History
