A History of a Love Story, Fortune Cookies and Tea with Jamie

Jamie Ford

An unforgettable romance, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet expresses the power of forgiveness and the power of the human heart. Set during one of the most conflicted and volatile times in American history, this is an extraordinary story of commitment and enduring hope.

Long boarded-up, an old hotel that was once the gateway to Seattle's Japantown is opened, revealing an incredible discovery: the belongings of Japanese families, left when they were rounded up and sent to internment camps during World War II. As the hotel's new owner opens and displays a Japanese parasol, Chinese-American Henry remembers a young Japanese-American girl from his youth. Henry and Keiko had forged a bond of friendship and innocent love transcending the prejudices of their Old World ancestors. Now, forty years later, Henry explores the hotel's basement for her family's belongings and a long-lost object whose value he cannot even begin to measure. Henry's search will take him on a journey to revisit the sacrifices he has made for family, for love, and for country.
