When Kevin Emerson was a biology major in college and subsequently taught science, he began to think about how a vampire body would work. What would a vampire family eat? What health issues would they have?

After moving to Seattle, Kevin looked out his apartment window and began to imagine a vampire boy trudging in and out each evening and dawn, unhappy about being a vampire, or about his heavy backpack of vampire school books, and how he'd look like just about the last undead creature you'd imagine having a world-changing destiny...

These thoughts continued and grew and became the Oliver Nocturne Series, a series of five books about a vampire boy in Seattle. The first two books will be released at the end of this month - I - Vampire Photographs and II - Sunlight Slayings.

Oliver Nocturne #1 - Vampire Photographs - Oliver Nocturne has a fairly typical childhood - for a vampire. But Oliver is different from those around him - his gore-loving vampire schoolmates, his loving vampire parents, and his obnoxious older brother, Bane. That's because, unbeknownst to Oliver, he's a little more human than the rest of them. When Emalie, an artistic and defiant human girl with a troubled past, unknowingly takes a picture of him, it sets them both off on a quest to uncover his true origins and the special purpose the vampire world has in store for him.

Oliver Nocturne #2 - Sunlight Slayings - Oliver Nocturne finds himself reunited with Emalie's cousin, Dean, who has returned as a zombie. Dean has information on something that is shaking up the vampire community - vampire children are mysteriously being turned to dust. Oliver and Dean reconnect with Emalie, and the three of them set out to solve the mystery and in the process encounter the Fallen Brotherhood, a human group fighting against vampires. And the Brotherhood has some news for Oliver ....
